Founded by a real couple with real hair struggles, Phases was designed for men and women seeking effective, lightweight products made with purpose.
Meet Aura – Co-Founder
Aura, co-founder of Phases Hair and Body Care, was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands and raised on the mainland United States. Inspired by entrepreneurship from a young age, she earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Georgia State University, a Master's in Business Administration from Clayton State University, and a Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University.
While in law school, Aura experienced hair thinning and began researching hair growth solutions for textured hair. Her discovery of Batana Oil transformed her hair, but its heavy texture made daily use impractical. This challenge inspired the creation of lightweight Batana Oil hair products designed for real life.
Meet Marcus – Co-Founder
Marcus, co-founder of Phases Hair and Body Care, is from Yazoo City, Mississippi. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University.
After serving four years in the military, Marcus spent over a decade in law enforcement and remains law enforcement certified in Mississippi and Georgia.
Now an entrepreneur and owner of Mr. HanDee LLC, a government contracting company, Marcus understands discipline, consistency, and structure. All values reflected in the Phases brand. His personal experience with thinning hair and limited products for Black men with coarse textures helped shape the inclusive vision of Phases.
The Birth of Phases Hair and Body Care
Phases Hair and Body Care was created to solve a real problem: the lack of effective, lightweight hair growth and styling products for textured hair. Aura noticed thinning at her crown, while Marcus struggled with a receding hairline.
After one honest conversation, Aura said, “What if we made it ourselves?” That moment became the foundation of Phases.
Together, they developed a complete system of Batana Oil–infused hair and body products that support hair growth, scalp nourishment, moisture retention, and styling without buildup.
